Performers Take a Bow in the East Room

In this photograph members of the American Ballet Theatre take a bow after performing the ballet "Billy the Kid" by Aaron Copland on a specially constructed stage in the East Room of the White House. The performance was a part of the State Dinner in honor of the President Félix Houphouët-Boigny of the Ivory Coast on May 22, 1962. President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy welcomed President Houphouët-Boigny and his wife, First Lady Marie-Thérèse Houphouët-Boigny, to the White House for an official State Visit.
